Low-carbon Office Tour Series: Kingfisher Asia Limited - 12 March 2018
Kingfisher Asia and Green Office Design
Kingfisher Asia Limited is the sourcing hub of Kingfisher plc, UK. Employee commuting became a key concern for the company when it moved office in 2016, with its desire to reduce carbon emissions from employee transportation becoming a key factor in the choice of location.
Staff engagement
A working group was formed to tackle the carbon footprint of the new office, comprised of staff members from a variety of departments and the company’s green committee. The green office design boasts a number of environmental features.
Green elements in the design and office facilities
- Open plan office, work stations located near windows and meeting rooms with glass walls are used to maximise natural light
- Plants are placed around the office to keep the air fresh
- An advanced and sophisticated iDCMini server unit is installed to reduce electricity consumption. Further, LEDs have been used for lighting
- Centralised trash bins and recycling stations were installed to encourage waste separation and recycling practices
- and more to discover in the tour…
